Happy John Hagee Day!

Wed Apr 30, 2008 at 01:33:26 PM PDT

I'd like to welcome you all to  the John Hagee Day Planning Committee.

I think we need a special day to celebrate this very special man.  The Committee is open to suggestions of all kinds as to how we can bring about a successful and widely celebrated day to raise awareness of this passionate and opinionated spiritual leader.

In terms of choosing a day for the celebration, there seems to be no reason not to interrupt the continuing celebration of Reverend Wright Awareness Month on account of the apparent extension of said month into the interminable future.

Before we open up the floor for everyone's ideas, follow me over the jump to hear what the Committee has so far.

We feel that awareness starts at home.

Here on Dailykos we have done a bang-up job celebrating Reverend Wright Awareness Month.  We have joined in the national celebration with literally hundreds of diaries and thousands of comments examining every nuance of that inspiring spiritual leader and his relationship to our prospects for political success in the fall.

It has brought together supporters of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in such a way that it's sometimes difficult to tell which is which.  How heartwarming is that?  Let's give a big hand to all the good Democrats who have shared their Concerns about this very important issue.

I think we all deserve a pat on the back for pulling our weight in that nationwide effort.  Nice job!  But now the John Hagee Day Planning Committee humbly asks that we refocus our attention to the celebration of Pastor Hagee.  He and his candidate for President, John McCain have been unfairly excluded from the national dialogue.

As a start, would it be too much to ask for anyone who has written a diary expressing their concern about Reverend Wright to now write a diary about the good Pastor Hagee and his inspiring endorsement of John McCain?

Perhaps someone could compile a list of the media references to Pastor Hagee as opposed to Reverend Wright?  Maybe we could just share thoughts and start conversations about the strangely disparate treatment of the two associations.

Maybe we could even reach out in friendship to other blogs and editorial pages to share the message and invite them to celebrate John Hagee Awareness Day.

The Committee is open to suggestions on what day would be appropriate for the celebration as well as all means of getting the word out.

Reverend Wright and Barack Obama have had their share of the fame probably because of that ongoing love affair the media folks have with Barack Obama.  We all know what a problem that is because they've told us about it.  So, it's time to use some people power to give someone else their fair share of the spotlight.

The Committee opens the floor and humbly asks for your thoughts.  Thank you.
